Overview
- Multiple callers reported a house fire around 11:50 a.m. on the 4600 block of Shackleford Street with two people believed to be trapped.
- Firefighters arrived within minutes to heavy smoke and flames at the one-story home and immediately split efforts between suppression and search.
- A female resident was located within about a minute of entry, removed from the home, and given on-scene care before dying later at a hospital.
- Searches of the residence and three additional structures found no other occupants, and a second reported resident was later confirmed unharmed.
- Crews brought the fire under control in about 15 minutes, and three dogs inside the home were found dead.
