Volkswagen Unveils ID. Polo Cockpit With Physical Controls and Retro Displays

Volkswagen positions the ID. Polo’s interior as the blueprint for upcoming ID electric models.

Overview

  • The production cabin debuts a 10.25-inch driver display and 13-inch infotainment screen in a single sightline, with separate physical climate buttons and a rotary audio controller.
  • Retro mode re-skins the instruments with classic Golf-style graphics and a cassette ‘tape deck’ animation, pairing heritage cues with a modern UI.
  • The next-generation software adds one-pedal driving, advanced parking assistants and an upgraded Travel Assist that can recognise traffic lights and stop signs, plus an extended ID. Light across the dash and doors.
  • Previously detailed specs stand: front-drive MEB+ platform, 37kWh LFP (up to 90kW DC) or 52kWh NMC (up to 130kW DC) batteries, outputs up to 155kW with a 166kW GTI to follow, WLTP range up to about 450km, and a larger 435-litre boot.
  • European launch is planned for spring 2026 with pricing targeted around €25,000, the model will be sold alongside the petrol Polo, South Africa is not slated to receive it, and a German report suggests the base €25,000 variant may not be available at initial launch.
