Universal Shifts Jessica Chastain Horror 'Other Mommy' to Oct. 9, 2026

The move positions the Rob Savage–directed adaptation for the Halloween corridor against Paramount’s The Legend of Aang.

Universal announced on Sept. 16 that Other Mommy will move from May 8, 2026 to Oct. 9, 2026.
On its new date, the film is slated to open opposite Paramount’s The Legend of Aang, with Sony/Legendary’s Street Fighter arriving the following week.
The film adapts Josh Malerman’s novel Incidents Around the House, directed by Rob Savage from a screenplay by Succession writer Nathan Elston.
James Wan’s Atomic Monster and Blumhouse are producing with Spin a Black Yarn for Universal, with multiple executive producers including Michael Clear, Judson Scott, Macdara Kelleher, Rob Savage, Josh Malerman and Ryan Lewis.
The cast features Jessica Chastain, Jay Duplass, Arabella Olivia Clark and Dichen Lachman, and the studio did not provide a reason for the date change.
