UNC Lands Western Carolina QB Taron Dickens From Transfer Portal

The record-setting FCS passer enters a wide-open competition under new coordinator Bobby Petrino.

  • Last season at Western Carolina, Dickens threw for 3,508 yards with 38 touchdowns, two interceptions and a 74.2% completion rate, plus 321 rushing yards and a rushing score.
  • Across three college seasons, he has totaled 5,063 passing yards, 51 touchdowns, five interceptions and a 74% completion rate.
  • Dickens set an NCAA single-game record with 46 consecutive completions in an Oct. 4 win over Wofford and was the SoCon Offensive Player of the Year and Walter Payton Award runner-up.
  • He is expected to compete with fellow additions Billy Edwards Jr. and Miles O’Neill after three UNC quarterbacks transferred out, following a 4-8 season under head coach Bill Belichick.
