Ukraine Confirms Rare ATACMS Strikes on Russian Command Posts and Depots

Kyiv seeks to degrade Russian command networks using scarce long-range missiles.

Overview

  • Ukraine’s General Staff said ATACMS were used overnight on Feb. 24 in coordinated strikes across occupied Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia oblasts.
  • An auxiliary command post of Russia’s 5th Army near Novopetrivka in occupied Donetsk Oblast was among the primary targets.
  • Additional hits included a logistics depot of the Russian Rubicon center near Vasylivka, ammunition and supply depots in Pryazovske and Oleksandrivka, and a maintenance site near Yakymivka.
  • The attacks mark the first confirmed use of ATACMS by Ukraine since Nov. 18, reflecting the system’s selective employment.
  • The military said damage assessments are ongoing, and the strikes support a wider campaign against rear-area command, logistics, and drone-control infrastructure.
