Two Jailed Over Fatal Lewisham Pub Attack, Including 10 Years and Six Months for Paul Tallant
Prosecutors said CCTV footage with eyewitness accounts disproved a self-defence claim after a drink- and drug-fuelled confrontation outside The Watch House.
Overview
- Woolwich Crown Court sentenced Paul Tallant, 43, to 10 years and six months for manslaughter, and Danny Donovan, 40, to two years and two months for affray and possessing a bladed article.
- The 63-year-old victim, Charlie Prodromou, who had been celebrating his birthday, was punched twice in the head outside The Watch House on March 1 and later died in hospital.
- CPS officials said CCTV showed Tallant delivering the blows, and he was seen raising his arms and shadow boxing as he walked away.
- Tallant admitted in hospital that he had taken cocaine and consumed large amounts of alcohol over several days before the assault.
- Police arrested Tallant near Lewisham High Street at 8:46pm within minutes of the attack, and he was initially charged with murder before a manslaughter plea was accepted following evidence review.
