Overview
- Police say the trooper had stopped with emergency lights on to remove a ladder from the left lane of I-95 South in Salisbury when his cruiser was struck from behind.
- The trooper was taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital with serious injuries and has been released to recover.
- Officials identified the other driver as Josue Levi Cuevas Santana, 24, of Lawrence, who will be summonsed on charges of negligent operation, speeding, using a mobile device while driving, and failure to move over.
- State Police report a continuing investigation into the driver’s conduct as well as the ladder hazard that prompted the stop.
- MassDOT crews and troopers removed the ladder and debris, and the three left-most southbound lanes were closed for about an hour during the response and initial investigation.
