Tomorrowland Entrance Rock Repaint Resumes at Magic Kingdom With Darker Look

Crews are using the drained Cinderella Castle moat to access the rockwork for a phased repaint.

Overview

  • Painters were observed on February 23 working along the north side of the Tomorrowland entrance, with one spire on the south side also refreshed.
  • The new finish trends dark gray to near black, replacing the light blue‑gray and purple tones introduced in 2016 and partially reapplied in 2023.
  • Access is enabled by the Cinderella Castle moat being drained for the castle repaint, allowing ground‑level work with ladders along the rock bases.
  • Rolling planters now block a nearby walkway on the north side as sections are isolated for work.
  • Exposed layers reveal a visible waterline and original brown bases beneath older coats, and Walt Disney World has not provided a completion timeline.
