Suspect and Victims Identified After I-495 Road-Rage Stabbings as Trooper Kills Attacker

Police say the beltway attack followed a crash and appears to be road rage, not terrorism.

Overview

  • Virginia State Police identified the suspect as Jared Llamado, 32, of McLean, who was shot by a trooper after confronting him with a knife and later died at a hospital.
  • Four people were stabbed; Michelle Adams, 39, died, and three women — Dana Bonnell, 36; Mary C. Flood, 37; and Heather Miller, 40 — were hospitalized with serious injuries.
  • A dog was also fatally stabbed at the scene on southbound I-495 near Exit 52/Little River Turnpike in Fairfax County.
  • Authorities say the stabbings followed a property-damage crash and are being investigated as a road-rage incident rather than terrorism.
  • The trooper is on administrative leave as the Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations, with Fairfax County assistance, reviews the crash, the attacks and the officer-involved shooting after hours-long lane closures.
