Overview
- The two governments said they will begin negotiations to modernize their 2006 free trade pact with a focus on supply chain resilience, the green economy, trade facilitation and aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul.
- Both sides signed agreements covering AI for public safety (HTX–NIPA), civil nuclear cooperation on small modular reactors (EMA–KHNP), science and technology, intellectual property and an extended space and geospatial environmental data partnership to 2029.
- They committed to develop an AI Cooperation Framework and launched private-sector collaboration through the new Korea–Singapore AI Alliance, with Korea planning a five-year, 50 billion won joint research program from 2027 prioritizing projects with Singapore.
- South Korea announced a US$300 million Korea Venture Capital Corporation global AI fund by 2030, with the government’s first offshore fund vehicle to be set up in Singapore in the second half of 2026.
- Nuclear collaboration advanced with SMR capability-building, information exchange and training, as Singapore confirmed talks have started on a civil nuclear cooperation agreement, while an MOU between KDB and Temasek-backed Seviora aims to spur bilateral investment and the leaders coordinated on Middle East risks and inter-Korean dialogue.
