Overview
- Officers were called to a unit complex on Fleet Street in Mornington about 7:30–7:40pm Friday after reports of a suspicious loiterer.
- CCTV shows a black Toyota LandCruiser ute repeatedly ramming a patrol car for roughly two minutes as two senior constables stepped back for cover and one drew a firearm.
- The ute was reported as stolen, and both vehicles were left badly damaged during the collision.
- The shirtless driver, wearing black shorts or socks, climbed over the police car and ran off, with police later patrolling the area with dogs and urging anyone with dashcam or CCTV to contact them.
- Accounts differ on officer injuries, with one report saying none were hurt and another citing minor injuries needing treatment the next day, and residents reported significant property damage including fencing, a gas meter, a garage facade and a power box.
