RSC Unveils 2026–27 Season, Casting Jonathan Groff as Rosalind in All-Male As You Like It

The season foregrounds outreach by marking 20 years of RSC school partnerships through a touring Julius Caesar.

Overview

  • Daniel Evans directs As You Like It at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre from September 26 to November 7, with press night on October 6 after Groff’s summer prep and an August rehearsal start.
  • Fisayo Akinade is cast as Celia opposite Groff, with additional casting to be announced.
  • Dame Harriet Walter reprises Brutus in Phyllida Lloyd’s all-female Julius Caesar, touring schools across England September 21–October 23 before a run at The Other Place November 5–28 with workshops and post-show discussions.
  • The season also includes Game of Thrones: The Mad King (summer 2026), a two-part Middlemarch (Part 1 from October 1, Part 2 from October 10, running through January 16), and Told by an Idiot’s The Three Musketeers (November 28–January 9).
  • The RSC cites its Associate Schools Program reaching more than 280 schools in 100 towns and cities, with public booking for As You Like It opening March 18 following priority windows.
