Peru Police Dismantle Two Drug Rings in Chorrillos, Seize Over 1,400 Cocaine Paste Packets

A territorial-control sweep combined police with army support alongside municipal security to focus on the district’s most critical zones.

  • More than 300 police officers, 20 army personnel and municipal serenazgo carried out a district-wide operation led by Lima police chief Gen. Francisco Vargas Aondonayre.
  • In Mateo Pumacahua, officers captured the group Los Bravos de la Garza de Villa with 1,040 packets of cocaine paste and recovered a car reported stolen, detaining Efraín Janampa, 41, and Carlos Hurtado, 28.
  • Grupo Terna dismantled Los Paseros de Costa, arresting Gustavo Jiménez, 35, and Luis Mendoza, 42, and seizing about 500 packets of cocaine paste along with several cellphones.
  • Authorities reported four suspects detained in total and more than 1,400 drug packets confiscated during the coordinated sweep.
  • The operation also resulted in flagrante detentions and over 20 traffic citations for drunk or unlicensed driving and possession, particularly along the Costa Verde.
