Person of Interest Arrested in Fatal Shooting of USPS Letter Carrier in Decatur

Investigators executed a search warrant on Oxford Drive following the arrest.

  • U.S. Postal Inspector Breslin Steverson confirmed a person of interest was arrested in a joint operation involving the Postal Inspection Service, the FBI, Atlanta police and the Georgia State Patrol.
  • Dequavious Graves, 31, was shot around 7 p.m. on Feb. 12 on the 2700 block of Oxford Drive in Decatur while delivering mail on his route.
  • Following the arrest, investigators searched a location on the 2800 block of Oxford Drive, made no additional arrests, and withheld the detainee’s name to protect the investigation.
  • The Postal Inspection Service previously offered up to $250,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction and continues to seek tips at 1-877-876-2455, reference Case No. 4668511-WPV.
  • Authorities have not identified a motive as they review evidence, including residential video, and USPS is providing counseling to employees at the Wesley Chapel Post Office.
