Overview
- Medical personnel confirmed on Friday that the person shot near Lake Merritt late last month died from their injuries.
- Officers responded around 3 a.m. on Sept. 27 to the 1300 block of Lakeshore Avenue and found evidence of a shooting but no victim at the scene.
- A short time later, police were notified the victim had been taken to a hospital with gunshot wounds and was listed in grave condition.
- The victim's name is being withheld until next of kin are notified, consistent with department policy.
