NYPD Report Confirms Anne Burrell Left Suicide Note in Bedroom

The disclosure updates the record months after officials ruled her death a suicide from acute intoxication.

Overview

  • A police report obtained by People states an investigator found a handwritten note described as 'suicidal' in the primary bedroom of Burrell's Brooklyn home.
  • The report says 'suicidal' journal entries were also located on the bed in the same room, and authorities have not released their contents.
  • Burrell's husband, Stuart Claxton, told police he found her unresponsive on the bathroom floor with a bunch of over-the-counter pills and called 911 around 7:50 a.m., when she was pronounced dead at the scene.
  • Claxton reported that Burrell had never attempted or discussed suicide and had shown no signs that she might harm herself.
  • The New York City medical examiner previously determined the death was a suicide caused by acute intoxication from diphenhydramine, ethanol, cetirizine and amphetamine, and earlier internal NYPD documents cited roughly 100 assorted pills at the scene.
