Nothing Ends Lock Screen Ads on Most Phones, Expands Control Over Preinstalled Apps

Nothing says the rollback stems from user feedback on intrusive software.

Overview

  • In a January 9 software update, Nothing removed the Lock Glimpse feature from most Phone (a) models.
  • Phone 3a Lite and CMF devices keep Lock Glimpse installed but off by default, with an uninstall option planned in future OTAs.
  • Nothing says it may reintroduce Lock Glimpse only after it is meaningfully improved to feel less intrusive.
  • The update lets users disable and effectively remove Meta App Installer, Meta App Manager, and Meta Service, with removal applied after a reboot and restored by a factory reset.
  • New app recommendations appear during setup or after some updates, and users can dismiss them or turn them off in settings.
