- Two marked patrol vehicles had emergency lights activated when a 2016 Dodge Durango ran a stop sign, hitting Trooper Bailey Martin and then her unoccupied cruiser.
- Police identified the driver as Colin M. Wanat, 21, of Eastham, Massachusetts, who told investigators sunlight impaired his view of the posted stop sign.
- Martin sustained non-life-threatening injuries, was evaluated at Alice Hyde Medical Center, and has since returned to duty; the driver and three passengers reported non-life-threatening injuries and declined further treatment.
