Munich Plans Controlled WWII Ordnance Detonation Near Lochhausen Cemetery on Monday

Authorities will enforce a 250-meter safety zone with limited access for the disposal operation.

Overview

  • The controlled detonation is scheduled for Monday, January 26, from 10:00 to 12:00, with the Lochhausen cemetery closed only during that window.
  • The site falls within a 250-meter exclusion zone on farmland west of Eschenrieder Straße, north of Pollenwiesenweg, and south of Scharinenbachstraße.
  • Properties included in the zone are Eschenrieder Straße 31; Eschenrieder Straße 27, 27a, 29; Am Lochhauser Hügel 6, 8, 8a; Schussenrieder Straße 36; and Scharinenbachstraße 7.
  • Residents at Eschenrieder Straße 27, 27a, and 29 must remain in south-facing rooms between 10:00 and 12:00 if they stay in their buildings.
  • Access is limited to disposal personnel and emergency services, no acute danger is currently reported, and security will announce when the zone is lifted; the operation is smaller in scope than last year’s Westfriedhof evacuation.
