- Maryland State Police say Maurquise Emillo James, 22, was arrested in Montgomery County around 3 p.m. Tuesday and charged with first-degree attempted murder, felony assault and gun offenses.
- The shooting occurred about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday at Belle and Milford avenues in Northwest Baltimore when the driver’s door opened slightly and shots were fired toward the trooper, who did not return fire as the car fled east on Belle Avenue.
- Investigators identified a gray 2009 Infiniti G37 linked to the stop and say the vehicle has been recovered after initial photos and descriptions highlighted dark tint, front-end damage and broken headlights.
- The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit is leading the case, which authorities describe as the attempted murder of a state trooper, with support from Baltimore police and Baltimore County police.
- Montgomery County police say James is also a suspect in a Feb. 14 shooting at an assisted living facility that killed 87-year-old Robert Fuller Jr.
