Overview

- Crews arrived to flames on the second floor, where officials say the fire originated and no working smoke detector was present.
- Two adults escaped after a working smoke alarm on the first floor alerted them to the danger.
- The deceased male has not been publicly identified and was transported to the Maine Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta for identification and cause-of-death determination.
- The Presque Isle Fire Department received mutual aid from Easton, Caribou and Mapleton, and the American Red Cross is assisting the family.
