Overview
- Reece Roberts, 27, of Florida Street in Pallion, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, causing death while uninsured, causing death while disqualified, and aggravated vehicle taking.
- He is due to appear at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court today, Tuesday 17 February.
- The charges follow a collision around 11pm on Saturday 14 February on the A690 Durham Road in Farringdon, near the Arbroath/Abercorn Road junction, in which a woman in her 50s died at the scene.
- Police say the pedestrian was struck by a black Volvo XC90 that left the area; the vehicle has since been recovered after being located in the Pallion Park area.
- Northumbria Police continue to appeal for witnesses and any CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage, and the woman’s next of kin are being supported by specialist officers.
