Lakers Send Bronny James to G League for Texas Back-to-Back

The assignment is intended to secure regular playing time with South Bay for the 21-year-old guard.

Overview

  • Los Angeles announced the move Thursday, so James will not be with the Lakers for Friday’s post-break opener against the Clippers.
  • He is assigned to South Bay for Friday and Saturday games in Frisco against the Texas Legends.
  • This is his seventh South Bay stint of the season as the Lakers continue to shuttle him between the NBA roster and the G League.
  • James is averaging 2.2 points and 1.2 assists in 29 NBA appearances, compared with 12.0 points, 5.0 assists and 3.2 rebounds over 10 G League games.
  • After the back-to-back, he could rejoin the NBA club as early as Sunday, and his status factors into a four-year, $7.9 million deal with $4.37 million guaranteed and a 2027–28 team option.
