Overview
- Deputies responded Tuesday afternoon to the 3800 block of Chanson Drive in View Park–Windsor Hills on a report of a child not breathing.
- Paramedics pronounced the child dead at the scene after the child was found unresponsive inside a vehicle.
- Edwin Johnson, 40, was initially arrested on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter and child neglect before being booked on suspicion of murder.
- Johnson's bail was set at $2 million, and an arraignment is scheduled for Sept. 12 at the LAX Superior Court.
- Detectives have not released details about what led up to the death and ask anyone with information to contact the LASD Homicide Bureau or Crime Stoppers.
