Konami Unveils Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, Bringing MGS4 to Modern Platforms on Aug. 27

Konami is positioning the set as a preservation effort that finally frees MGS4 from PS3 exclusivity.

Overview

  • Releasing August 27, 2026, the collection is confirmed for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (Steam), Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2.
  • The package includes the first-ever port of Metal Gear Solid 4, the HD version of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker with online play for up to six players, and the Game Boy Color title Metal Gear: Ghost Babel.
  • Konami says the new MGS4 version targets a higher internal resolution, a higher maximum frame rate, and offers customizable controls, while Peace Walker retains its online co‑op and competitive modes.
  • The set adds archival extras including screenplay and master books, the MGS4 database, and a digital soundtrack, with pre-orders live and in-game items awarded for pre-orders and for players with Master Collection Vol. 1 save data.
  • Konami released a same-day update for Master Collection Vol. 1 adding higher-resolution options for MGS1 and MGS3, and confirmed Switch 2 will use a Game-Key Card while the Switch version requires additional downloads.
