Overview
- The Library of Congress named 25 films including The Karate Kid, The Thing, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Philadelphia, Glory and Before Sunrise.
- Six silent-era works were added, with the oldest, The Tramp and the Dog (1896), and the most recent, The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014).
- The Thing received the most public nomination votes this year, reflecting nearly 8,000 submissions considered for selection.
- Turner Classic Movies will air a March 19 special hosted by Jacqueline Stewart to showcase several of the new entries.
