Overview

  • Steady rain continues across the New Orleans area through Saturday with widespread totals of 1–3 inches and localized bands capable of 3–5 inches or more where cells train.
  • A coastal flood advisory remains in effect for parts of southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi, with tides running 1–2 feet above normal due to onshore flow.
  • An initial wave already dropped up to five inches on parts of the North Shore, and an additional roughly 0.5–1.5 inches is possible into Saturday before drier weather arrives Sunday.
  • Weather disruptions include the Manning Family Children's Hospital Parade being moved to Sunday and the Tulane game facing a chance for light to moderate rain at the 7 p.m. kickoff.
  • Farther north, a clipper is expected to deliver around 1–2 inches of snow to Northeast Ohio on Sunday, with a new Arctic surge bringing much colder temperatures and bitter wind chills to parts of the Northeast on Monday.
