Overview
- Fire broke out around 10:45–11 a.m. at 462 Northampton St. and tore through additions extending to Pine Street in a three-alarm blaze.
- Firefighters rescued about five or six people through windows, including a man who climbed out of a fourth-floor window to a ladder.
- A Wilson Borough firefighter was hospitalized at St. Luke’s, and others were believed to have suffered smoke inhalation.
- Power was cut to roughly 3,000–3,500 customers, Lafayette College was affected, and a State Theatre performance was canceled.
- The building sustained interior collapses and displaced more than a dozen long-term residents as the Red Cross opened a shelter at Paxinosa Elementary School.
