  • Meijer voluntarily recalled 38,043 gallons of Meijer Steam Distilled Water after reports of a floating black foreign substance in one-gallon containers.
  • The affected bottles are identified by best-by date Oct. 4, 2026 and lot code 39-222 #3 with UPC 041250841197, Product ID 472859 and Item Code 477910.
  • The recalled water was distributed to stores in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin.
  • The FDA has not identified the substance or assigned a recall classification, and no illnesses or injuries have been reported.
  • Officials advise disposing of the water or returning it for a refund, noting distilled water’s frequent use in CPAP machines, humidifiers, sinus rinses and infant formula.
