Driver Sought After Teen Bicyclist Fatally Struck in Crystal Lake

Overview

• A 15-year-old boy riding on Terra Cotta Road in unincorporated Crystal Lake was fatally struck just after 9:30 p.m. on July 2.
• Officials say the teen had an active red taillight and was riding with another teen when a southbound vehicle hit him from behind.
• The driver fled the scene and has not yet been identified.
• The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Crash Investigation Unit and Coroner’s Office are jointly probing the collision.
