Disney Files Signage Permits as Hollywood Studios’ Walt Disney Studios Lot Takes Shape

The late-stage paperwork signals parts of the reimagined area are on track for a phased summer 2026 opening.

Overview

  • Walt Disney Imagineering filed two permits on February 17 to install permanent signage in the former Animation Courtyard, with Design Communications Ltd. listed as the contractor.
  • One permit covers 755 Stage Ln, tying to the Little Mermaid soundstage that will be renamed Studio Theater while The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure continues to run.
  • The second permit references 561 Stage Ln, the site of the demolished archway, where concept art indicates a low “The Walt Disney Studios” entrance sign is planned.
  • New aerial imagery from bioreconstruct shows extensive progress including repaved paths, new hardscape and mature trees, and removal of the Star Wars Launch Bay overhang to prepare for a Sorcerer Mickey hat entrance feature.
  • The former Launch Bay is becoming The Magic of Disney Animation with drawing classes, character meet-and-greets, and an Alice in Wonderland playground, and outlets report the Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! show is expected to open first this summer.
