- Police say the gang posed as Delhi Police and Income Tax officials to stage a fake raid at a Dev Nagar jewellery workshop on November 27 and fled with about 1.001 kg of gold.
- Five suspects were detained after a 72-hour, roughly 1,200 km operation across Delhi and multiple Haryana districts, led by the Prasad Nagar police team and Central district Special Staff.
- Those held include a Delhi government employee and a man who claimed to be an OSD in Madhya Pradesh’s Public Relations Department, a status police say is under verification.
- Officers recovered 435.03 grams of gold, ₹3.97 lakh in cash, three vehicles, fake Delhi Police ID holders and lanyards, and uniforms allegedly used in the staged raid.
- Investigators report that Sandeep sold 428 grams of the loot and shared around ₹25.5 lakh, while three alleged accomplices — Akram, Suresh alias Jammal, and Naveen alias Kala — remain at large.
