- The change takes effect on Sunday, March 8, 2026 at 2:00 a.m. local time, when clocks move to 3:00 a.m., and it continues through Sunday, November 1.
- Exemptions include Hawaii, most of Arizona except the Navajo Nation, and U.S. territories such as Puerto Rico, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa and the Northern Mariana Islands.
- Mexico limits the switch to northern border municipalities in Baja California, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León and Tamaulipas on the same March 8 to November 1 schedule, according to CENAM.
- Phones, computers and many newer vehicles adjust automatically when set to network or GPS time, while analog clocks, older electronics and some dashboards need manual updates.
- A House proposal, HR 7378, would set a permanent nationwide time 30 minutes ahead of current standard time, but it remains in committee without a scheduled vote.
