Overview
- Police attended a Bondway address in Lambeth at about 8pm on New Year’s Day following a welfare concern and found the body of 41-year-old Kaleem Shaik.
- Kaleem Shaik has been identified as an Indian national, and his relatives in India have been informed and are receiving specialist support.
- Daniel Levy, 48, who lives on the same road, was arrested on New Year’s Day and has been charged with murder.
- Levy was remanded in custody following an appearance at Westminster Magistrates’ Court and is due to appear at the Old Bailey on January 5.
- Detective Chief Inspector Phil Clarke is leading the investigation and says officers are not seeking additional suspects, with an increased police presence planned locally.
