Overview
- Muhammad Thomas, 35, was arrested on Feb. 24 in St. Louis by Chicago officers working with the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force and was extradited to Chicago.
- Authorities charged Thomas with nine felonies, including two counts of first-degree murder, along with three warrants tied to the Nov. 8 Little Village case.
- Police say he robbed a jewelry store in the 3800 block of West 26th Street at gunpoint, was confronted outside, then opened fire, killing Faustino Alamo, 63, and Luis Angel Alamo, 25.
- Investigators report the older victim fired once before his gun jammed, and the shooter fled south on Springfield Avenue in a white SUV.
- Thomas also faces separate allegations in a July 2023 shooting on West Maypole Avenue and a July 2024 armed robbery on West Cermak Road, with his next court appearance set for Friday at the Leighton Criminal Court Building.
