- Nicolo Bulega swept the pre-event test and all practice sessions, then took Superpole by 0.419s with a 1:28.244 for his third consecutive Phillip Island pole.
- He led Race 1 from start to finish and won by 4.776s, with Yari Montella second and Lorenzo Baldassarri third for their first WorldSBK podiums.
- Miguel Oliveira crashed in Superpole and started 21st yet recovered to eighth on his WorldSBK debut for BMW.
