Overview
- Moore died Monday at his farm in Lynnville, Tennessee, with a funeral set for Friday, Feb. 6, in Bremen, Alabama, and donations requested to the American Heart Association or the Crimson Tide Foundation.
- He lettered in football at Alabama from 1958 to 1960 under Paul “Bear” Bryant and also earned two baseball letters as a first baseman and catcher.
- His coaching stops included Kentucky, Texas A&M under Gene Stallings, and North Carolina before returning to Alabama in 1972 as an assistant on teams that won three SEC titles and the 1973 national championship.
- As Kansas head coach from 1975 to 1978, he earned Big Eight Coach of the Year in 1975 after the 23–3 win over Oklahoma, and he departed after the 1978 season.
- After coaching, he ran a top-performing Miller distributorship in Pensacola and later supported Alabama athletics, receiving the Paul W. Bryant Alumni-Athlete Award in 1996 and Alabama Sports Hall of Fame induction in 2019.
