Boy, 15, Struck and Killed While Walking Along North Telegraph Road in Frenchtown Township

Overview

• The collision occurred around 1:30 a.m. near Paree Street on the northbound side of North Telegraph Road.
• The Carleton teen was walking southbound on the northbound shoulder with a 14-year-old companion when a white Dodge Journey hit him.
• The 31-year-old driver from Newport stopped at a nearby gas station, initially believing she struck a non-fixed object, then reported the crash.
• The victim was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead; the SUV’s airbags did not deploy, and the driver was not injured.
• The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office released the driver and is investigating, asking witnesses to contact investigators or Crime Stoppers.
