Avelo to Exit Bradley, Cutting Connecticut’s Only Nonstop to Jamaica

The airport authority says the airline quit after it refused to waive terminal rent beyond the incentive period.

Overview

  • The Connecticut Airport Authority said Avelo will end all Bradley service, including nonstop flights to Montego Bay, Cancún and Punta Cana, in January 2026.
  • Avelo told the authority it will cease operations sometime in January and will refund customers whose flights are canceled.
  • The authority said Avelo sought relief from terminal rent through June 30, 2027 after a rent-free first year, a request the agency denied.
  • CAA disputed Avelo’s claim of weak demand, citing Montego Bay load factors of roughly 80% in April and 95% in July, while Avelo said route revenues did not cover costs.
  • Airport officials said they are fielding interest from other carriers to restore the Jamaica link, as local West Indian leaders voiced concern over the loss.
