Overview
- The theft occurred around 11 a.m. outside Animal Lovers Pet Salon on N. Clybourn Avenue near Greenview in Lincoln Park.
- David Cox of Markay's Castle of the Dogs said the van was taken within minutes as he unloaded the animals' belongings.
- A client followed the vehicle, and Cox's cellphone was tracked to the 1500 block of West Homer Street, where it was found discarded.
- Police found the van in an alley near Lakewood and Oakdale in Lakeview with all the dogs inside, along with stolen lawn equipment, and the plates had been switched to Illinois.
- The suspect ran from the scene, no one is in custody, and the investigation remains active.
